Saint Aidan of Lindisfarne is a prominent figure in early Christianity, known for his missionary work in Northumbria during the 7th century. Aidan was born in Ireland and was a monk at the monastery of Iona before being sent as a missionary to Northumbria by the King of the Northumbrians, Oswald. He founded the monastery of Lindisfarne on the Holy Island, which became a center of learning and spirituality during his time there.
