He operates within the symbolic tradition, weaving narratives from the Irish Mythological Cycles and early Christian Hiberno-Saxon art into a modern visual language.

His meticulously crafted works are not literal illustrations but are instead dense fields of archetypal imagery. He is preoccupied with the concept of Anamchairde (soul-friendship) between place and spirit, and the idea that the land itself is a palimpsest of stories. Recurring motifs include:
